Chad Mission

Learn more about ChadEvangelist Pélagie Quenum and her husband Serge Quenum recently visited Chad (See complete profile here…) where they spent 14 months from 06/13/2009 to 9/01/2010. Chad is located in central Africa and shares its borders with 6 countries (Libya, Sudan, Republic of Central Africa, Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger). Chad endured three decades of civil warfare as well as invasions by Libya before a semblance of peace was finally restored in 1990. In 2005, new rebel groups emerged in western Sudan and made probing attacks into eastern Chad despite signing peace agreements in October 2007. Chad has an oil and pipeline project which is a $ 3.7 billion development comprising some 300 oil wells, which are expected to extract approximately one billion barrels of oil over twenty five years. Despite this wealth, It is estimated that 80% of the population of Chad lives below the poverty line. Farming and livestock raising are the main sources of income of 80% of the population. Chad relies on foreign assistance and foreign capital for most public and private sector investment projects. Chad is one of the countries in Africa with the highest rate of HIV/AIDS, 3,3% (officially but most of the time, the data is not properly collected, otherwise, it is higher than this). Maternal and infant mortality rate is very high as well. Infant mortality 124.02 deaths/1,000 live birth, and maternal mortality is 1499.8/100.000. Read our complete Chad Mission Presentation here.

— 1 Samuel 16:7
